Compassion or violence, which has a greater impact on Society?

I think violence has a greater impact on the world than compassion. Violence is like an endless storm or terrorism-a thick grey fog of war and hatred. Violence has changed my opinion of other people and different cultures. Violence has impacted my childhood and my future. Has violence changed the person I would have been without it?
