Compassion or violence, which has a greater impact on Society?

Compassion is about caring, violence is about being hateful to others, compassion makes you forget all the depression violence has caused, violence takes out everything in a loving heart.
I think compassion has a greater impact on society because one act of compassion can change hundreds or thousands of people's lives. Because of one person is compassionate to another then that person will be compassionate to one more person, and so on, that is why I think compassion has a greater impact on society.
