Why the Pen is Mightier Than the Sword

I believe that the pen and sword both have their uses, but the pen is superior. Although violence can help win a “who is most violent” contest, communication gets our message across. If we are violent, all people know is that we are being violent. If we communicate, people understand our point of view. (Even though they may not agree!) If we are violent, people may never understand WHY we are violent!

However, you may find yourself wondering: Why is communication important? Communication is important because it can help change people’s minds! For example, when I read the Greek myth about Eros and Psyche, it helped me understand love better. It also taught me about jealousy, the green-eyed monster. In a way, it changed me. The sword, on the other hand, cannot communicate ideas and therefore is not as powerful as the pen.

Both the pen and the sword can contribute to a fight but only a pen can end one. It can convince others of your point of view and solve problems. The pen can influence others and change them. It can solve problems while the sword creates them. All the sword does is inspire fear. This is why the pen is mightier than the sword.
